February 2015 Sharing Time Topic: Jesus Christ Is My Savior and Redeemer

February 2015 Scripture:  “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).

February Week 1 Topic:  Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer.

Preparation: 

Prayerfully study and think about what the specific needs of your primary are and how you can teach them this doctrine.  

Sharing Time Instruction:

Begin Sharing Time by placing the word strip, "SAVIOR", on the board.  Ask the children if they know what that word means.  Write their answers on the board.  Then place the word strip, "One who saves" up on the board, under or next to the word "Savior".  Then place the word strip "Jesus Christ" on the board. Invite the children to share how Jesus Christ is their Savior, or in other words, What does Jesus save them from?  Answers should include: He saves us from our sins, from our imperfections, he saves us from death.  Ask the children How?, How does he save us from sin and death?  Answers should include: Through his atonement he give us the opportunity to repent and to be forgiven of our sins.  Through his resurrection he provided us with a way to over come death and to be able to live with our Heavenly Father eternally.  Place the word strip, "REDEEMER", on the board.  Ask the children what this word means?  Place the word strip, "Paid the Price", on the board under or next to the word strip, "redeemer".  Ask the children what Jesus paid the price for? (our sins) How did he pay the price? (Through the atonement he suffered for all of our sins, paying the price for each one)  Invite a child to come and hold up the week theme poster and invite the children to repeat the phrase with you, "Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer."  Place the following pictures on the board, The Atonement, The Crucifixion, The Resurrection. Play the song, "To Think about Jesus", and invite the children to take a minute while the song is playing to think about Jesus paying the price for their sins and pains and how because he paid the price they can be saved through repentance from those sins. They will also because of the Savior's resurrection be able to be resurrected and live again.
